A plague on our house!

Well, that may be overstating it a bit. Honestly, though, sometimes it feels like it! In the past three weeks, The Boy has had two ear infections, two eye infections, Fifth's Disease, and a near constant fever. We've seen three doctors at our family practice, and one very nice Emergency doctor at Sickkids Hospital. God Bless Sickkids! They should be on our Christmas card list. The Husband (or "Mr Earth" as he prefers to be called now, man, he's worse than P Diddy...or whatever his name is now) has had two nasty colds, and I myself have had one. And I'm not talking about a sniffly little cough-cough cold, either. I'm talking about a knock-down, drag-out, drug me up till I'm stupid kind of cold.

We're taking The Boy to the doctor tomorrow AGAIN. The antibiotics don't seem to be working, he hasn't eaten since Saturday, and today he slept for seven out of twelve hours. You'd think that it would be nice to have so much 'down time' but when a child sleeps that much, it's just plain worrisome. Also, I wasn't here today. (We'll save the guilt about that for another post...) My mom came in to watch him for the past couple of days, so I could actually attend work. What we would do without her, I'm not entirely sure.

Now, I think that I am getting sick again, and quite frankly, it simply cannot happen. Mr Earth has a show, The Boy is well and truly sick and I cannot get sick. So there you have it Ye Gods of the Sickies. I refuse to be sick, do you hear me? Nyah, nyah.

Is anyone else afflicted, or are we the lucky ones??

Hey nomotherearth! In response to the post you left over at m'blog, yes, I am in the west end. We should hook up - perhaps with Crazymumma - and get in shape before the big ttc bonanza. You can email me privately through my site and then I can email you back?

My husband has a nasty cold. Vile. I spent Monday evening profoundly sick but then recovered BUT NOW I have an infected scraped knee. Because I suck.
The kids are healthy, though. Knock on wood.

Umm we've had constant colds and stomach flu the last week, with one drainng ear that would have been infected if not for tubes, and a lice scare.

Does that make you feel better?

Get well soon wishes!!

Hey NoMo, I'm kinda new here so I have to ask, "show?" Is your husband in theatre? Is it possible that you have a 22 month-old AND a husband in theatre AND you blog? If so, strike me down dead now b/c that is some freaky co-incidence. You see, I have just described me.

P.S. I hope the pestilence passes quickly.

We finally became relatively healthy this past week, just slight sniffles and tail ends of coughs, so we hustled in to get our flu shots before we're layed low again. It's been like this since the end of August around here. Gross.

OK, just a quick answer back. My husband is a playwright/director who teaches drama at the uni here. I've been very involved with theatre from the admin side--my husband and I stared a theatre festival here 5 years ago and until recently I ran the business end of things.

When I saw the word "show" in your post my eyebrows went up b/c, alas poor theatre, it is an art that is on the wane these days. I was thrilled to know there was another blogger out there with a soul-commitment to it.

I guess I shoulda put that in an email. Oh well, next time.

Hope everyone is starting to recover at your end.

Oh so sorry that you are sick. I hope that everyone is feeling healthy now that it is a few days later. Sending a big tub of virtual ice cream your way. No fun.

'Tis the season for the plagues. My son is running green from his nose, I went to bed consumed by nausea last night and woke to a blissfully cancelled running date! So there is a God and these too shall pass...by about April. Cheer up!
